How ranking works

Every place is grouped into one of four price tiers — from cheapest to priciest — shown as a desert heat scale on the pins and cards. Within a category, places are numbered cheapest-first.

Make it live

Swap the embedded seed data for your own feed: point loadCategory() at api/prices.php?category=gas and have a cron job refresh a prices MySQL table. The map and list update with zero markup changes.

Add a category

Propane, car washes, dining — each is a tab away. Add a key to the CATEGORIES list and feed it rows. Empty categories invite data instead of breaking.
